The Ajuda Foundation put on a cabaret night to raise money for the The Purple Sunflower Project. We had an excellent night and raised just under £2000. This money will go toward delivering mental health workshops and training that will benefit the people of Maesteg and the surrounding areas. Here are a few photos from the cabaret night.

More about The Purple Sunflower Project

The Purple Sunflower Project has been put together by The Ajuda Foundation and its volunteers.

The project is mainly funded by money raised from The Trudy Williams Memorial fund.

The Trudy Williams Memorial fund was set up after our friend and colleague, Trudy tragically lost her life in a car accident on 10th August 2022. Trudy was born and raised in Maesteg and was a big advocate for helping others and promoting positive mental health. Here is Trudy pictured below.

This legacy project will not only benefit the people of Maesteg, but with more funds we can also help raise awareness of mental health through our online webinars, and harder to reach communities throughout the Welsh Valleys too.

The funds we can also help raise awareness of mental health through our online webinars and more hard to reach communities throughout the Welsh Valleys too.

Running our first mental health workshops in Maesteg

We have already hit the ground running having delivered a Level 1 Mental Health First Aid workshop at Llangynwyd Village Hall in Maesteg. 20 people took part and received a QNUK qualification. Here are photos of the workshop recently undertaken.

The QNUK qualification equips people in Maesteg to help people with their mental health, and to recognise people who could be going through a mental health problem. The more people who attend the Level 1 Mental Health First Aid workshop in Maesteg means that they can make a huge positive impact on mental health in their community.

When people feel better, especially their mental wellbeing, this can lead to happier communities in Maesteg and that is our aim, to contribute to healthier communities where people feel supported and can overcome their mental health conditions. Here is information on the next upcoming event being run through The Purple Sunflower Project.
