There’s no getting away from it. Fundraising feels harder now than it has done in a long time.

Our bills are higher, budgets are tighter, and for many people the focus is on simply getting through the month. In that context, choosing to support a charitable cause can understandably slip down the list. That doesn’t mean people don’t care. It just means everyone is juggling a lot.

At The Ajuda Foundation, we see this reality every day, and we’re working harder than ever to keep vital projects going. We know we’re not alone in this. Many small organisations across Wales and beyond are feeling the same pressure, but what keeps us going is knowing that the work matters.

The Ajuda Foundation exists to support wellbeing, resilience and connection in our communities. Our projects are practical, accessible and rooted in real need. They are also free at the point of access, which makes fundraising essential to everything we do.

Here’s a snapshot of what we’re working on right now.

The Restart a Heart Project
This project delivers free CPR and defibrillator training to schools and community groups across Wales. The aim is simple and powerful: to give people the confidence and skills to act in an emergency. Every session increases the chances of lives being saved.

Supporting Mental Health Wales Project
This project creates Community Mental Health First Aiders and Community Wellbeing Champions. We also provide free monthly webinars on a wide range of mental health and wellbeing topics, offering accessible support, information and reassurance to people wherever they are.

The Purple Sunflower Project
This project delivers free mental health workshops at the heart of the community. These sessions create safe, welcoming spaces for conversation, learning and shared understanding, helping to reduce stigma and strengthen local support networks.

The Ajuda Foundation Creative Writing Competition
Our annual competition celebrates creativity and storytelling, while also raising funds to support our community mental health projects. It is a reminder that creativity and wellbeing are closely linked, and that words can be a powerful form of connection.

That is a lot for a small organisation to hold, especially in a challenging funding landscape. Every project relies on the goodwill, generosity and encouragement of others. We are deeply grateful for every contribution, no matter the size.

There are many ways people can support The Ajuda Foundation, and not all of them involve spending money.

You can support us by:

And if finances are stretched, there are still ways to help that cost nothing at all.

You can join our Facebook community, follow The Ajuda Foundation on Twitter, and share our posts. A like, a comment or a share helps our work reach new people and keeps our projects visible. That support really does make a difference.

We may all be facing similar challenges, but by supporting one another, we can continue to make a difference in our own little corner of the world, and that, we think, is always worth holding on to.
