We were at the Fairwater Conservative Club recently celebrating the re-markable achievements of the Hilly Heroes and raising money for The Restart A Heart Project. The night was in honour of Dave Hill who died following a cardiac arrest last year. Here are a few photos from the night.

Dave’s family have banded together and started the The Restart A Heart Project being run by The Ajuda Foundation. They are raising awareness of CPR and the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Knowing how to do CPR can be a very handy tool to have in your tool box in the event of an emergency, it could save someone’s life, that is the same for AED’s, knowing how to use an AED properly could also save a persons life.

This legacy project will not only benefit the people of Fairwater, but with more funds we can also help raise awareness of CPR and the use of an AED throughout Cardiff and its surrounding areas, and eventually across communities throughout the Welsh Valleys. Here are the Hilly Heroes pictured below.

They raised a huge £7700 through a 50-day challenge that started on the 25th of January to the 15th of March 2023. People had to challenge themselves over these 50 days and set goals from giving up chocolate, alcohol, energy/sugary drinks, going for a daily walk or exercising and giving up social media.

Amy Williams, Cameron Clarke and Jack Clarke who are Dave’s step children went on and did their own challenges over the 50 days. Amy ran 500km, whilst Jack is swam the distance of the English Channel. Cameron climbed Pen y Fan every day, ending his challenge on the Three Peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all done within 24hrs. Money raised will go toward providing schools AED equipment and a memorial bench for Dave. Here are the Hilly Heroes receiving certificates for their extraordinary efforts.
